Diseases affecting the gut and liver are very common amongst our population. Most can be treated with proper medical attention. Common ones are stomach bloating, indigestion, vomiting, and difficulty in swallowing, heartburn, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, and passing blood in the stools. Jaundice (yellow discoloration of eyes and skin) is a feature of liver disease. Diseases result from simple causes such as food allergy, infection, ulcer, acid reflux or more complex ones such as chronic inflammation, hepatitis and cancer.
Our digestive centre is specialized, focused and fully comprehensive. At our centre, we provide individualized consultations and advice in the care of all digestive diseases. The clinic identifies, investigates and treats disorders of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, pancreas and biliary tract. Modern tests include specific blood tests, radiology imaging such as ultrasound and multi – slice CT scan (MSCT), and endoscopy (Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy). New medications in the prevention and treatment of chronic viral hepatitis B and C are available. Patient education, especially life-style modification and digestive health, is emphasized.
This procedure is a very accurate way of looking at the lining of your upper digestive tract and to establish the presence of any diseases. A gastroscope is used to relay images back to our Specialist onto a screen for review as it is directed onto the lining of your upper digestive tract. The Specialist may need to take some tissue samples (biopsies) for analysis and it is painless.
This procedure is a very accurate way of looking the lining of your colon (large bowel) to establish whether there is any disease present. A colonoscope is used and is directed onto the lining of your bowel and relay images back to our Specialist onto a screen for review. The Specialist may need to take some tissue samples (biopsies) for analysis and it is painless.
