Regular health screening is a step to stay healthy. It provides a general view of your current health condition to detect and prevent serious health problems. At Alpha Specialist Centre, we provide personalized health screening by taking into consideration the patient’s medical history and assess their requirements before recommending the type of screening packages that are suitable for them.

Location

The Health Screening Centre is located on the 2nd Floor.

Hours of Operation

8:30 am till 5:30 pm (Monday – Friday)
8:30 am till 1:00 pm (Saturday)

General 

  • It is recommended that you commence fasting 10 hours before your health screening test.
  • Only consume plain water if thirsty.
  • If the test you have chosen requires a stool sample- the staff will notify you beforehand.
  • Please bring along your previous medical reports and x-ray if any.
  • Please do not take any medication in the morning till after your blood sample has been taken (except for anti-hypertension drugs)
  • For ladies, please inform our radiographer if you are pregnant or if you suspect you are.

Stress Test

  • Please wear loose attire and bring along your jogging shoes.
  • Refrain from eating or smoking at least 1 hour before the test.
  • A light meal is advisable to be taken without any butter, cream, caffeine or alcohol.
  • Please take your medication as usual unless advised otherwise by the doctor.

Pap Smear

  • It is best to schedule your appointment at least 1 week after your last day of menstruation. The optimal time for a pap smear test is 2 weeks after your last day menstruation.
  • Avoid sexual intercourse or using any vaginal medicines / spermicidal foams, creams / jellies for at least 2 days before pap smear.

Mammogram

  • Schedule the test for a time when your breasts are least likely to be tender. Usually during the week after your menstrual period.
  • Avoid using deodorant, lotions, powders, cream or perfumes under your arms or on your breast as metallic particles could be visible on your mammogram and cause confusion.
  • Consider an over the counter pain medication if you find that having a mammogram is uncomfortable.
